V200 broken engine mount

Postby Jason » Wed Nov 29, 2017 8:13 pm

I asked a little too much of Wally on Monday and broke the left hand engine mount in two.

We were climbing a heavily eroded fire trail in low 1 and I decided to cross the ruts at an angle. Did ok until the rear lost traction, spun up as it dropped in hard to the rut and hooked up.

There was a bang and the gear stick rolled over and hit me in the thigh.

Quick look under the bonnet and underneath showed not much wrong. A scuff in the air box where the turbo trapped it and a few spurts of diesel where the return line got stretched. Oh, and a shattered engine mount.

Drove out and home fine.

Booked in for a new mount and thorough look over in the morning

They didn't have the left engin mount on hand but had Wally up on the hoist to look for other damage.

Seems we were lucky this time.

Maybe a locker is in order to limit shock loading in this circumstance?

Or maybe I should just go a little easier :D
